Mount Merapi, near the protectorate of Lichthalzen, has begun spewing more ash and lava, according to Lichthalzen residents. The Indonesian Government has also warned that the 2,968m-tall volcano, which last erupted in 2006, could erupt “at any time”. Around 17,500 villagers living near or on the southern slopes of the volcano have been told to prepare for “urgent evacuation” in event of the volcano erupting, which is near the cities of Surakarta and Yogyakarta, as well as many other villages and towns in the area.

Atlantis accuses A1 of "bullying"

In a scathing attack on St.Charlie and A1 published by the President of the territory of the Holy Salanian Empire, Emperor Brizendine I, both A1 and St.Charlie are accused of “bullying” and “childish” behaviour, following diplomatic embargoes placed on Atlantis by both St.Charlie and A1. The article, which publishes a personal message allegedly sent to St.Charlian Prime Minister, Alexander Reinhardt, by the Emperor, responding to St.Charlie’s ‘six points’ detailing alleged plagiarism, abuses and breaches of privacy against Alexander Reinhardt and St.Charlie.

The Emperor said in his article “influence does not give a nation the right to bully others. In a recent Salanian Press Conference (yes, we occasionally have those) on the issue, several Salanian officials commented that it seemed St.Charlie was “needlessly accusing Atlantis of unwarranted crimes”.” He went on to quote another “Salanian politician”, accusing A1 of acting “very childish [sic]. Why can’t they find something better to do?”.

Chairman Sir. Philip Fish said that he was “astounded at the accusations”, explaining that “a diplomatic embargo for numerous indefensible actions against a good and just micronation like St.Charlie does not constitute as ‘bullying’ or acting childishly”. He responded to the ‘issue of influence’ raised in the article, by stating that “As I have stated a number of times to the very author of this article, A1 does not necessarily condone the OAM influence survey. Of course it is not a definitive guide, and certainly we do not use our apparent influence to ‘bully’ anyone. If the Emperor would be so good as to convey his concerns in a more appropriate manner by providing evidence, that is much more preferable than levelling ad hominem attacks on my person and on the person of others, violating the obvious privacy of many micronationalists and blatantly plagiarising the graphics and other objects of a micronation”.

A1 follows St.Charlie on Atlantis

Following the St.Charlian reply to Atlantis yesterday and the subsequently insulting reply by Atlantis, Chairman Sir. Philip Fish has announced that A1 would follow the lead of St.Charlie and place a “full diplomatic embargo on all territories and citizens of the Republic of Atlantis”. The move comes after weeks of “unbearable” actions from Atlantis and many if its citizens, including releasing citizens’ real names in public against their wishes, banning foreign diplomats from their online forum and blatantly plagiarising many of St.Charlie’s graphics, ranks and ideas, despite vehement protests to the contrary.

Sir. Fish said that the embargo meant that “We currently categorically refuse to begin any sort of negotiations over any sort of treaty or other foreign relations document” but that it did not mean that “Atlantis cannot mend their ways”. He called for Atlantis to meet the six points that St.Charlie have outlined and restart diplomacy between the two nations.

St.Charlie rebuffs Atlantis

The Federal Republic of St.Charlie has issued a stern response to a series of “insults and insinuations” over the past few weeks by the controversial Republic of Atlantis. Heinrich Schneider of the St.Charlian Ambassadorial Council issued a statement today calling for Atlantis to cease it plagiarism of St.Charlian systems, graphics, etc, and to restart attempts at forming a diplomatic relationship. The statement also issues a series of points that St.Charlie wish to see fulfilled before it will accept such an attempt, including a change to the Atlantis Commonwealth, the changing of the Atlantis Defence Force ranks and formally apologise to a number of citizens of St.Charlie for insults brought against them by a number of Atlantis citizens.

Chairman Philip Fish said that this statement was “unequivocally welcomed” by the Government, stating that “Atlantis has needed to be brought into line for some time, especially the insults and blatant plagiarism that have been ‘defended’ with such vigorous and slanderous insults as against St.Charlie”. He also stated that A1 stood “100%” by St.Charlie and “is willing to provide any assistance that may be requested”.
